Creek House Kitchen Renovation

When a former client, nutritionist, and cookbook author asked us to reimagine her country home’s kitchen, we jumped at the opportunity. The main challenge was to work within the existing kitchen footprint and to use the existing windows and exterior doors. To relate to the existing space, the sink, faucet, and lighting were centered on the windows. To improve flow, the doorway between the dining room and kitchen was widened. To provide ample storage, the refrigerator and pantry were tucked into an efficient wall alcove, and additional storage was provided with floating shelves and in the knee space of the island. Pantry doors were coated with chalkboard paint provide a place for notes and shopping lists. Low chairs and side tables provide space to relax before moving on to the dining room, deck, or outdoors for a hike. The palette of wood floors, blue cabinets, white countertops, and expanded subway tile create a classically modern space.
